At the competition, students have the opportunity to test their English proficiency through various formats designed to develop their language skills.
On February 24, the Da Nang Youth Union and the Da Nang Student Association, in collaboration with the WISE English Language Center system, launched the “Danang City English Olympic – Danang WISE English Olympic” for the 2023 academic year.
The competition spans three months, from February 24 to May 28, aiming to provide a dynamic English-learning environment where Da Nang’s youth can engage with international-standard language training.
The competition is divided into three categories:
- Category A: For middle school students.
- Category B: For high school students and those from continuing education & vocational training centers.
- Category C: For university and college students.
At the school-level round, participants are assessed on all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Speaking about the competition’s goals, Mr. Le Cong Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union, emphasized:
“Recognizing the urgent need to enhance English proficiency among young people, the Da Nang Youth Union and the Vietnam Student Association in Da Nang have partnered with WISE English, a highly specialized institution, to create a high-quality English competition that aligns with the needs of today’s youth.”
The Danang WISE English Olympic 2023 is open to youth union members, students, and young people across Da Nang.
Excitement was evident on the face of Nguyen Tran Tieu Di, an 11th-grade student at Hoa Vang High School (Cam Le District, Da Nang), as she eagerly anticipated competing in Category B for high school students after successfully advancing past the school-level round.
“I am thrilled to participate in this competition and to meet and interact with students from across the city. This is a fantastic opportunity to improve our English skills, support one another, and encourage English learning and communication,” Tieu Di shared.
The competition has already launched its school-level rounds, generating widespread excitement and positive feedback from participants. In fact, within just one day of opening, the competition received over 500 high-quality submissions.
