PART 1:

1. How much walking do you do in your daily life?

Well, to be perfectly honest, I don’t walk as much as I probably should. Most of the time I rely on my motorbike to get around, since it’s faster and more convenient. Having said that, I do try to squeeze in some walking, like going to the convenience store or strolling around my neighborhood in the evening. Altogether, I’d say it adds up to maybe 30 minutes a day, which is not a huge amount, but at least it helps me stay active.

2. Did you walk more when you were at school than now?

If I’m not mistaken, yes, I definitely did. Back in my school days, I had no choice but to commute on foot because my school was within walking distance. I still remember walking every single morning with my classmates, which actually felt refreshing. Nowadays, though, my university is much farther away, so walking has become more of a recreational activity rather than a daily necessity.

3. What places are there to go for a walk near where you live?

Well, I’d say there are quite a few. The most obvious one is a large public park about ten minutes from my house, which is really popular with joggers and families. There’s also a promenade along the river, which is lovely in the late afternoon when the sun is setting. Personally, I prefer the riverside because it feels more scenic and less crowded compared to the park.

4. Would you ever like to go on a walking holiday?

Absolutely, I think it would be amazing. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of trekking through mountains or exploring coastal paths. It seems like the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation. Plus, a walking holiday would give me the chance to disconnect from technology, immerse myself in nature, and really recharge my batteries.

PART 2:

Describe a play or a film you have seen that you would like to see again with friends.

You should say:

what play or film you’d like to go to see again

who you would go with

what other people have said about this play or film and explain why you would like to see this play or film again in with friends.

PART 3:

1. What are the most popular kinds of plays or shows at theatres in your country?

In my country, I’d say comedies and musicals tend to draw the biggest crowds, simply because they’re light-hearted and entertaining. However, in recent years, there’s also been a growing interest in contemporary dramas and experimental plays, especially among younger audiences who are keen to see something a bit different.

2. How easy is it to get tickets to the theatre?

It really depends on the production. For small, local performances, tickets are usually affordable and widely available. On the other hand, for big-name shows or international tours, you often have to book well in advance because they sell out almost instantly. So, in general, accessibility isn’t too bad, but high-profile events can be quite competitive.

3. Do you think theatres need to do more to attract younger audiences?

Yes, without a doubt. Young people nowadays are so used to streaming platforms and short-form content that traditional theatre sometimes feels outdated. To stay relevant, theatres could modernize their productions, use social media more effectively, or even introduce student discounts. These strategies could make theatre more appealing and accessible to the younger generation.

4. What do you think attracts people to working as an actor?

I think it’s the combination of fame, creativity, and emotional fulfillment. Many people are drawn to acting because it allows them to step into someone else’s shoes and experience life from a different perspective. Of course, the potential for recognition and financial reward also plays a big role.

5. What are some of the qualities that a person needs to have if they want to become an actor?

Well, first and foremost, an actor has to be confident and expressive. On top of that, they need resilience, because the entertainment industry is extremely competitive and full of rejection. Finally, I’d say versatility is key – being able to adapt to different roles and perform convincingly in a wide range of genres.

6. Can you think of any disadvantages of working as an actor?

Definitely. The most obvious one is job insecurity – many actors struggle with irregular work and unstable income. Another downside is the lack of privacy, since public figures are often under constant scrutiny. And finally, the long and exhausting working hours can take a toll on their health and personal relationships.

PART 1:

1. What’s your favourite fruit?

Well, if I had to pick just one, I’d definitely say mangoes. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, so I find them incredibly sweet, juicy, and refreshing, especially when the weather gets unbearably hot in summer. What I really love is that mangoes are extremely versatile: I can eat them fresh, blend them into smoothies, or even have them in desserts like sticky rice with mango. It’s one of those fruits I could eat every single day and still never get bored of.

2. Are there any kinds of fruit that you don’t like eating?

Yes, there is one – durian. I know it’s often called the “king of fruits” in my country, but honestly, I just can’t stand the overpowering smell. The taste is also far too rich and creamy for me, so it’s simply not to my taste. I’ve tried it a couple of times just to give it a fair chance, but every time I felt slightly uncomfortable. So, while many of my friends enjoy it, I usually stay away from it.

3. Do you like eating cooked food that has fruit in it?

Actually, yes, I do. For instance, I really enjoy roasted duck with orange sauce or pineapple fried rice. I think the fruit gives the dish a unique sweet-and-sour twist that makes it much more interesting than ordinary food. It also helps to balance, making the dish lighter and more appetizing. So, I’m generally open to experimenting with fruit in savory dishes, as long as it’s done in moderation.

4. Where’s the best place to buy fruit where you live?

From my perspective, the best place is definitely the local wet market near my house. Compared to supermarkets, the fruit there is fresher since it often comes directly from farmers. Another thing I like is that the vendors are really approachable; sometimes they let me try samples before I buy, which makes shopping more enjoyable. Plus, the prices are usually more affordable, so it’s both cost-effective and high-quality.

PART 3:

1. What kinds of plans do friends make together?

Friends usually make plans for social activities like hanging out, going to the cinema, or travelling. Sometimes, they even come up with long-term plans such as preparing for exams together or collaborating on small business ideas. These plans are not only fun but also strengthen their friendship because they share experiences and memories.

2. Do you think it’s better to discuss future plans with friends or with family?

It really depends on the nature of the plan. If it’s something casual like a trip, then of course, friends are the best people to talk to. But if it’s a major life decision—for example, choosing a career or studying abroad —then I think it’s wiser to consult family. Parents, in particular, tend to give grounded advice, which is based on experience rather than impulse.

3. When making plans for the future, is it important not to copy friends?

Absolutely. It’s natural to be influenced by our friends because we spend so much time with them. But at the end of the day, everyone’s background is different. If you blindly copy your friends’ choices, it might backfire, since what works for them doesn’t necessarily work for you. So, I think it’s essential to be inspired by them, but still make independent choices.

4. When people are choosing what to study, how important is it that their course should lead directly to a career?

I would say it’s fairly important but not the only factor to consider. Having a degree that leads straight into employment definitely gives students a head start in the job market. But at the same time, university should also be about personal growth, learning how to think critically, and developing transferable skills. These can be applied in any field, so even if your degree doesn’t directly connect to a career, it can still be valuable.

5. Why is it a good idea to get some work experience before deciding on a future career?

Because it provides a taste of the real world. Through internships or part-time jobs, young people can figure out whether a certain career path really suits them. Work experience also helps to build practical skills and a professional network, which can be incredibly useful later in life. In a way, it’s like testing the waters before diving in.

6. How easy do you think it is for people to change from one career to another?

Well, it depends on the circumstances. A career switch to a closely related field can be relatively smooth, since you can rely on transferable skills. But if someone wants to make a drastic change, say from engineering to performing arts, it’s usually more challenging. They might need additional training or new qualifications, which can take time and money. That said, with determination and planning, it’s still possible.

PART 1:

1. Did you enjoy going to museums when you were a child?

Yes, I actually did. Back then, visiting a museum was a bit like opening a treasure trove of stories and artifacts. I was always curious about history and science, so I found the experience both eye-opening and enjoyable. Of course, as a child, I couldn’t sit still for too long, but the interactive displays always kept me engaged.

2. Are there any interesting museums near where you live now?

Yes, there are a couple. One is a history museum that showcases the city’s past, and another is an art gallery that rotates its collections. I don’t go there on a regular basis, but when I have visitors from other cities, I usually take them there. It’s a nice way to broaden their horizons about local culture.

3. Do you think it is best to go to museums by yourself or with friends?

Personally, I think it depends. If I go alone, I can move at my own pace and focus on what really catches my attention. But going with friends makes the trip more lively, because we can share thoughts and sometimes even debate about the exhibits. I guess both options have their own merits.

4. When you visit another city or country, do you think it’s important to go to a museum there?

Yes, definitely. Museums give you a snapshot of a place’s history and culture. It’s much more authentic than just scrolling online. Plus, I think stepping into a museum in another country is like having a window into the past, which makes traveling far more rewarding.

PART 3:

1. What are some aspects of people’s lives that they can often be dissatisfied with?

Well, many people feel frustrated with their jobs, especially if the workload is heavy but the pay is low. Others may feel dissatisfied with their relationships, or even their health if they don’t have enough time to exercise. In short, people often struggle to find a proper work-life balance.

2. Would you say that having ambitions in life is always a positive thing?

I’d say ambition is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it pushes people to aim higher and achieve success. On the other hand, if it’s too extreme, it can make people burn out or neglect relationships. So, I’d argue that having ambition is positive as long as it’s kept in check.

3. What do you believe the most important components are of a satisfying life?

For me, the essentials would be meaningful relationships, decent health, and a sense of purpose. Without these, even wealth or fame can feel empty. I believe people need both external achievements and inner peace to feel satisfied.

4. What makes a job more satisfying: a high salary or having good colleagues?

Honestly, both matter, but if I had to choose, I’d say colleagues. A good team creates a supportive environment and makes daily work enjoyable. A high salary might make you happy in the short run, but without good people around, the job will feel like a grind.

5. Do you think people need to change jobs regularly if they want to stay satisfied at work?

Not necessarily. For some, sticking with one career helps them become experienced and respected. For others, changing jobs can bring fresh challenges and prevent boredom. I think it really depends on one’s personality and long-term goals.

6. Is it possible to find job satisfaction in all types of work?

I’d say yes, but it requires the right mindset. Even in tough jobs, if people feel valued and see their effort making a difference, they can find satisfaction. Of course, some jobs are more demanding than others, but at the end of the day, it’s about perspective.

PART 1:

1. What do you think your best personal qualities are? [Why?]

I think one of my best qualities is patience. I usually stay calm even when things don’t go as planned, which helps me solve problems more effectively. I’m also quite empathetic, so I can understand how other people feel.

3. Do you have the same personal qualities as your parents? [Why/Why not?]

Yes, I believe I share some qualities with my parents. For example, my father is very hardworking, and I think I inherited that from him. But unlike my mother, who is very outgoing, I’m more introverted and prefer quiet activities.

4. What personal qualities are important to you in a friend? [Why?]

For me, loyalty is the most important quality in a friend. I want to feel that I can trust them no matter what happens. I also value a sense of humor because life is easier when you can laugh together.

5. Do you think you have the personal qualities to be a good/successful leader? [Why/Why not?]

I think I have some leadership qualities, like being responsible and decisive. However, I still need to improve my communication skills because a good leader should inspire and motivate people effectively.

PART 2:

PART 3:

1. How do most people find out about the news in your country?

These days, most people get the news through social media or online platforms, since it’s quick and accessible. Traditional outlets like newspapers and TV are still around, but younger people usually scroll through their phones to stay up to date. The downside is that it’s easy to come across fake news if you don’t double-check the source

2. Are people more interested in local news than national news?

I think it really depends on the individual. Older generations tend to follow local news closely, especially about community events or neighbourhood issues. Younger people, however, are more likely to keep an eye on national or even international headlines, partly because they feel more connected to the wider world.

3. How important is it to know about international news?

In my opinion, it’s absolutely essential. We live in a globalised world, so international events often have a knock-on effect on our own country. For instance, the war in Ukraine has affected fuel prices worldwide, and climate change is a global issue that requires international cooperation. If people only focus on domestic news and ignore what’s happening abroad, they may not be prepared for the challenges that cross national borders.

4. Why are discussion programmes involving members of the public popular on TV and radio?

I think these programmes are popular because they give ordinary people a chance to voice their opinions. Instead of only listening to experts or politicians, viewers get to hear perspectives from “real” people, which feels more relatable. It also creates a sense of community engagement, as people see that their voices matter and that they are part of the national conversation.

5. What kinds of people want to take part in discussion programmes?

Usually, people who are outspoken and confident are keen to participate, because they don’t mind speaking in front of an audience. Some also take part because they are passionate about certain social issues, such as education or healthcare, and want to get their message across. In some cases, people join simply for exposure, hoping to become more well-known or to build their personal reputation.

6. Do discussion programmes influence people in a good or bad way?

I would say both. On the positive side, they can raise awareness, promote critical thinking, and give people a platform to share diverse viewpoints. However, if these shows are sensationalised or biased, they can mislead viewers and even create unnecessary conflict. For example, in some countries, politically motivated talk shows have deepened divisions among citizens instead of bringing them together. So, like many things, it depends on how responsibly they are managed.
